The Spaniard David Muñoz will try to spoil the party for Daniel Holgado who has his first match point.

David Muñoz (KTM, Avatel Cardoso Racing) will start from pole position for Saturday's FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship race at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the young Spaniard having benefited from a dry track in the first of two sessions qualification before rain prevented any progress in the afternoon.

David Muñoz will line up on the front row of the grid for the first time in his career on Saturday and will be joined there by David Alonso (GasGas, Aspar Junior Team) and the Australian Joel Kelso (KTM, AGR Team), who will participate in the Moto3™ World Championship next year as part of the CIP – Green Power team.

Fourth on the grid, Takuma Matsuyama (Honda, Asia Talent Team) continues its successful qualifying streak, outside the first two rows of the grid on only one occasion in 2021. Fresh from signing a contract for the 3 Moto2022™ World Championship with its current team, Ivan Ortola will ride his Team MTA KTM from fifth place. The second row is completed by the Dutchman Zonta Van Den Goorbergh (Honda, Super B team). A record qualification for the 15-year-old from the Hawkers European Talent Cup.

The championship leader Daniel Holgado (GasGas, Aspar Junior Team) will start from ninth position to take his match point, behind Jose Garcia (Honda, SIC58 Squadra Corse) who dominated the second qualifying session by 1,8 seconds in the wet.

Daniel Holgado is currently 42 points ahead of David Muñoz in the general classification, meaning the 16-year-old will be crowned 3 Moto2021™ Junior World Champion if he can extend that lead to at least 51 points at Misano. The red lights will go out at 17:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
