Until now, the Portuguese round of the FIM CEV had always been denied to Yari Montella (Speed Up, Team Ciatti–Speed Up), whether it was last year when the Italian rider suffered a crash during the first race , or even this year, during a qualifying session which he largely dominated but which saw him fall back to seventh place on the grid following certain sectors carried out too slowly.

However, it was written that Yari Montella would be the man of the day in the Moto2 category, from a first race where Alessandro Zaccone (Kalex, Promoracing) won in the first corner ahead of a surprising Piotr Biesiekirski (Kalex, Team Stylobike) yet started from eighth position.

Yari Montella took only three laps to reach the lead of the race before seizing it at mid-distance to the detriment of Niki Tuuli (Kalex, Team Stylobike). Behind these two men, then find Alessandro Zaccone (Kalex, Promoracing) at one second and Lukas Tulovic (Kalex, Kiefer Racing) already at 2,5 seconds.

During the second part of the race, Niki Tuuli will give everything to stay in contact with the Italian before letting up his effort three laps from the end, after having had a few heats...

During the second race, Yari Montella regains his pole position, which obviously does not make the work of his opponents easier…

When the red lights go out, however, it is Alessandro Zaccone who rushes best, in front of his compatriot, Tulovic et Tuuli. The Speed Up driver, however, did not wait until the end of the first lap to take command of operations, a position that he would not leave until the checkered flag despite reduced resistance to only Niki Tuuli, like in the first round.

In the end, the Speed Up driver crossed the finish line with more than three seconds ahead of the Finn while the last man on the podium, Alessandro Zaccone ends more than 15 seconds.

In the championship, it's a solid box for Yari Montella who now knows his most dangerous adversary, Niki Tuuli !

The revenge will be played in Portimão next Monday.
