The 2016 FIM CEV Repsol championship began yesterday on the Valencia circuit with the free practice day set up just before the race weekend, in order to reduce the teams' travel costs.
Qualifying practice will take place on Saturday, with the two Moto2 races, as well as the two Moto3 races, taking place on Sunday.
39 riders from 13 different nationalities will be competing for victory in Moto3.
Nicolo Bulega and Aron Canet having left for the World Cup, many will want to follow in their footsteps, starting with Jaume Masia Vargas, Albert Arenas, Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Stefano Manzi and Maximilian Kappler. Note that they will have to take into account the selection of the Asian Talent Team as well as Enzo Boulom, the only French-speaking representative in the category.
We will also observe Dennis Foggia, the latest recruit of the VR46 Riders Academy, who also lines up Marco Bezzechi.
Please note, however, that this category is open both to world-class prototypes but also offers a ranking for Moto3 Production with Honda NSF 250 R engine as standard. In this new formula, six drivers will vie for victory, including the Frenchman Lyvann Luchel.
If the Moto3 category still fully plays its role, as demonstrated by the performances of Fabio Quartararo and Nicolo Bulega in the World Cup, the last two reigning CEV champions, the situation seems a little less easy in Moto2, Jesko Raffin and Edgar Pons having so far never managed to really assert themselves in the World Cup.
However, the departures this year of Edgar Pons, Xavi Virginie and Luca Marini will undoubtedly allow Alan Techer, Steven Odendaal, Eric Granado, Tetsuta Nagashima to aim for the title. However, they will have to be wary of the newcomers Ana Carrasco and Remy Gardner, Thibaut Bertin, Thibault Gourin (Superstock 600) and William Raymond also complementing the French colors.
Also note the presence of Louis Rossi riding the TransFiormers.
In total, no less than 35 drivers from 18 different nationalities will be at the start of this first event in Valencia.
