It was a clear winner of the 3 Moto2018 Junior World Championship that Raul Fernandez arrived in Valencia with 180 points collected on his Angel Nieto Team KTM, as he preceded Manuel Pagliani, with 131 points on his Leopard Junior Honda, but unfortunately forfeited for personal reasons. Fernandez and Pagliani were ahead of the Japanese Yuki Kunii third on his Honda in the Asia Talent Cup with 114 points, and the two Spaniards from Junior Team Estrella Galicia Jeremy Alcoba and Sergio Garcia with 101 and 96 points respectively. No French driver appeared in the ranking.

The Japanese Yuki Kunii took pole position ahead of the Russian Makar Yurchenko and Ai Ogura, driver of the Asia Talent Team as well as the pole sitter. The second row included Davide Pizzoli, Raul Fernandez and Jeremy Alcoba.

Can Öncü, recent winner of the Valencia GP, started from eighth position, and Celestine Vietti, third in the Phillip Island GP, from twelfth.

Starting grid (the first 5 lines):

When the lights went out, Yuki Kunii was the quickest to set off ahead of Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez, the new category champion for Jorge Martinez's "Aspar" team. Jeremy Alcoba managed to steal third position from his compatriot Fernandez. Yari Montella was then fifth ahead of Makar Yurchenko, Aleix Viu, Davide Pizzoli and Can Öncü.

A group of nine drivers began to break away, led by Kunii ahead of Ogura, Fernandez, Montella, Alcoba, Yurchenko, Viu, Öncü and Sergio Garcia. Pizzoli and Booth-Amos fell without seriousness. Celestino Vietti, Valentino Rossi's colt, was in twelfth position.

The two Japanese Kunii and Ogura retained the lead on their Asia Talent Team Hondas, ahead of Alcoba, Fernandez and Yurchenko. The others had difficulty following this group of five leaders who were gradually widening the gap. Ryan van de Lagemaat fell while losing the front, without serious consequences. The American Brandon Scott Paasch fell shortly after, also without seriousness. Yari Montella then imitated them. In sixth position, Aleix Viu gradually moved up to the group of 5 leading men. The seventh Sergio Garcia was 7 seconds behind and no longer had any chance of the podium, unless there was a problem at the front.

At halfway, Kunii still dominated his compatriot Ogura, who preceded Alcoba, Yurchenko, Viu and Fernandez. Makar Yurchenko fell without seriousness, while Can Öncü recovered sixth place, but 6 seconds behind.

Jeremy Alcoba went on the attack and took second position passing Agura, when suddenly the leader Yuki Kunii fell without seriousness. It was a disaster for the brilliant Nippon who had held first position since the start of the race.

At the start of the final laps, Alcoba, Fernandez, Ogura and Viu were fighting for victory, 9 seconds ahead of Öncü. Ivan Miralles fell without injury. Alcoba took the lead with 2 laps remaining, ahead of Fernandez, Ogura and Viu. Fernandez took the lead on the last lap, ahead of Ogura, Alcoba and Viu. Ogura finally won ahead of Alcoba, Fernandez and Viu.

Race 2:

For the last race of the 2018 Junior World Championship, Ai Ogura managed to start in the lead ahead of Yuki Kunii, Raul Fernandez, Jeremy Alcoba, Yari Montella, Sergio Garcia, Makar Yurchenko and Can Öncü. Kevin Orgis fell without gravity. As in the first round, the two Japanese Ogura and Kunii set their pace on the race. Then Raul Fernandez, the 2018 Champion in the category, moved into second position. Can Öncü, winner of the Moto3 GP last Sunday here in Valencia, moved up to fifth place after an unsatisfactory, if not disappointing, first race. Celestino Vietti, Rossi's colt, moved into ninth position behind Makar Yurchenko.

Fernandez took command, ahead of Garcia, Ogura, Kunii and Alcoba. Ogura took the lead again ahead of Öncü, Alcoba, Garcia, Kunii and Montella. The group of leaders included 14 drivers, including Fernandez eighth, but positions changed very quickly, particularly on the slipstream in the straight.

Can Öncü took first position, but Sergio Garcia did not give up and overtook him, while Alcoba was third ahead of Ogura, Kunii, Yamanaka and Fernandez. At halfway, Öncü was ahead of Ogura, Garcia and Alcoba. Ivan Miralles fell without significant damage. Thomas Booth-Amos imitated him shortly after. It was the second fall of the day for each of these two drivers. Yari Montella fell due to a high side, then left late.

10 drivers were fighting for victory with 4 laps to go, the tenth being 1.6 behind the leader. Ogura, winner of the first race, took back the lead ahead of Öncü, Garcia, Alcoba, Fernandez and Kunii. The race was stopped at the red flag due to a driver lying on the side of the track. 16 laps having been covered, the race was declared finished. The winner was Sergio Garcia ahead of Ogura and Öncü.
