Six months after the death of Ángel Nieto, a foundation in his name was established before a notary in the presence of friends and members of his family, notably his two sons Pablo and Gelete.

Through a message on social networks, those close to the champion explained the purpose of this foundation: “To honor not only the memory of our father but also to promote the values of sport in general and motorcycling in particular, just like those which, among others, defined his professional and human trajectory: effort, perseverance, surpassing oneself , camaraderie, fair play, sportsmanship, honesty and humility. »

The “12+1” as he was often called because of his thirteen world titles and his superstition linked to the number 13, disappeared on August 3 following a road accident. It was therefore quite natural that it was decided that the foundation would also help motorcyclists who were victims of accidents. “in order to support them and their loved ones in all the stages involved in this situation (hospitalization, healing, rehabilitation, psychological and home help, etc.)”

The creation of the foundation is in addition to that of the Ángel Nieto Museum which will see the light of day in a few months in Vallecas (Madrid).
