It's now official: Lando Norris is the 2025 Formula 1 world champion. The British McLaren driver received the world drivers' championship trophy on Friday evening in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the FIA's annual awards gala.
At 26, Norris secured the first world title of his career, at the end of a thrilling season that went down to the wire.

The suspense lasted until the very end. By finishing third in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final round of the season held last Sunday, Norris secured his crowning with two small points ahead of Max Verstappen.

Sick, Max Verstappen was unable to attend the event. The trophy was presented to Norris by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, newly re-elected for a second four-year term.

Contrary to the image seen on the starting grid in Abu Dhabi, a replica, the original trophy, created in 1995, had been specially transported to Uzbekistan.
Made of silver and gold, it bears the signature of each champion, engraved alongside his name and the year of his victory.

The deferred submission is explained by the International Sporting Code, which allows teams to file a right of review after the last race of the season.

With this ceremony, the FIA ​​officially closed the book on the 2025 season.
