It's now official:
Lando Norris is the 2025 Formula 1 world champion. The British McLaren driver received the world drivers' championship trophy on Friday evening in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the FIA's annual awards gala.
At 26, Norris secured the first world title of his career, at the end of a thrilling season that went down to the wire.

The suspense lasted until the very end. By finishing third in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final round of the season held last Sunday,
Norris secured his crowning with
two small points ahead of Max Verstappen.
A monumental performance that puts an end to four years of driver dominance Red Bull, and which makes
Norris the first world champion
McLaren for
Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
"This title is the culmination of years of work, doubts, and perseverance," told Norrisvisibly moved during the ceremony.
The Uzbek evening also dedicated McLaren
at the top of the constructors' championship, for the second year in a row.
On the stage, Andrea Stella, the stable manager, and Zak BrownCEO McLaren Racing, received the trophy symbolizing the lasting return of the Woking team to the elite of the F1.
The teammate of Norris, Oscar piastri, third in the drivers' championship just 13 points behind the title, was also present, illustrating the collective strength of the duo McLaren in 2025.
Sick, Max Verstappen was unable to attend the event. The trophy was presented to Norris by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, newly re-elected for a second four-year term.
Contrary to the image seen on the starting grid in Abu Dhabi, a replica, the original trophy, created in 1995, had been specially transported to Uzbekistan.
Made of silver and gold, it bears the signature of each champion, engraved alongside his name and the year of his victory.
The deferred submission is explained by the International Sporting Code, which allows teams to file a right of review after the last race of the season.
With this ceremony, the FIA officially closed the book on the 2025 season.
A season that will be remembered as the one that marked the rise of
Land Norris, the triumphant return of McLarenand the end of a reign that until then seemed untouchable.
