After being violently hit involuntarily by Federico Caricasulo, Jules was evacuated to the circuit's medical center, where a fracture in his pelvis was detected. He was immediately taken to Melbourne Hospital for further examination.

It was on the very last lap of the race that Caricasulo, teammate of Lucas Mahias within the official Yamaha team, completely missed braking on a hairpin on the right. As bad luck would have it, Cluzel was right in front of him at that moment and the Italian in distress could do nothing to avoid it.

Jules was transported to the medical headquarters, where a fracture of the sacrum was detected. The sacrum is a bone formed from the fusion of the five sacral vertebrae. It has a pyramidal shape with a cranial base, the base called the sacred promontory, the tip of the pyramid being called the apex. It is located between the two iliac bones to form the bony pelvis.

The second race takes place in 15 days and it will obviously be difficult for Jules to take part. Not to mention the return flight from Australia which promises to be difficult.

Jules clarified: “For the information of family and friends I'm going to Melbourne for a scan to see how serious it is... It's really painful. I have a broken sacrum and we need to see what is broken and if there is more damage. Unlucky I was today ???? I just want to say that some riders need to be penalized to understand that we are doing a dangerous sport.
I will need your support and good news soon to have a chance of being back at the next race in 2 weeks.
Thanks to my team and Simon Buckmaster who support me so much even in this bad moment. I'm going to do my best. »

Courage Jules, we are with you.

Recall that Kenan Sofuoglu, the reigning World Champion, is out of the first two races due to a dislocated thumb.

Nicky Hayden was also injured this Sunday. It was again his left knee, the one which was badly damaged last year during an accident during dirt track training.
