The British driver from Team Pramac covered himself in glory on Saturday by setting the best time in three free practice sessions. In the afternoon he did quite well in qualifying with the seventh time.
Sunday morning was successful again with the sixth fastest time in the warm up. A great Grand Prix therefore seemed promised to him, he who had this year finished seventh in Qatar and eighth in Argentina.
Starting from the third row of the grid, he completed the first laps in eighth position, behind Dani Pedrosa and in front of Jack Miller. Knowing that Pedrosa would later finish third in the Grand Prix, Redding had all hopes.
Unfortunately his gearbox had to decide otherwise. It broke on the seventh lap and Scott was forced to retire.
According to Scott Redding, “ It's a shame. The feeling was very good. It was a great weekend. I had a lot of confidence after the Jerez tests, and in free practice and qualifying I did very well.
“The start of the race was good, although during the first laps I had some grip problems. But I managed to keep my position because the race pace was very positive.
“It may sound strange but if I have to be honest, I'm happy with this weekend because I found a great feeling. Meet at Mugello. »
