In November last year, during the offseason Cal Crutchlow declared that both Jonas Folger and Johann zarco were far from being the fastest drivers. This is to highlight the weaknesses of its Honda compared to the qualities of the Yamaha. The message was that the Englishman was suffering with a bike that was less good than the designated duo, a duo that would be much further from him in the time trial with equal equipment. Then the season started and the LCR driver found Johann Zarco aggressive on the track. At the French Grand Prix, he congratulated him.

A change in opinions which shows the rise of the Frenchman in the MotoGP world. However, on paper, it was to be expected: we are not double consecutive Moto2 World Champion by chance. And the elite discovered that there was life outside their microcosm.

On the podium at Le Mans, the man who would so much like to find an official contract, and more particularly with Honda, after having torn up the one he had with Ducati commented: “ Congratulations to those who made it to the podium. Dani is incredible at the moment and I didn't imagine Viñales dominating the race alone. Johann Zarco was perfect all weekend. And we can take our hats off to him after such a performance ».

Now, look forward to Mugello on June 4th. In the general classification of independent drivers, it is the Frenchman, fifth in championnat, who leads in front of the Englishman.
