The track was dry, for the first time this weekend for the Moto3 riders, who therefore had no reference points in these conditions on the new surface. There remained some small traces of humidity, but the air temperature was 15° and that of the track 23°. However, the weather forecast was not 100% certain that it would not rain before the end of the session, and all the drivers therefore rushed out of the pits immediately to achieve a time guaranteeing a good place on the grid.

George Martin fell instantly from the first minutes, without gravity. Roman Fenati set the bar at 1'43.935. Joan mir followed him in 1'43.740, then in 1'43.683. Pagliani fell and Toba, who was following him, hit his bike on the ground (drivers OK).

The situation was actually difficult for the teams to manage as they had to both qualify and set up the bike for the race during this dry session. Joan Mir increased her advantage in 1'43.542, 0.1 ahead Aron Canet and Albert Arenas. Jules Danilo was thirteenth. Niccolo Antonelli came second, 0.07 behind Mir. The first 23 were held within 1 second.

Antonelli took the lead in 1'43.513 20 minutes from the checkered flag, 0.007 ahead of Fenati. Then he accelerated to 1'43.269. Fenati replied in 1'42.999. Mir was third ahead of Kent and di Giannantonio. The sky was getting really dark.

Jules Danilo moved up to fifth position. He qualified sixth in 2015. It started to rain 11 minutes from the checkered flag. All the drivers returned to the pits. The rain stopped, the circuit was not very humid, and everyone set off to try their luck. Adam Norrodin fell without gravity. The sun appeared again and the trajectory dried up.

Nicolo Bulega set the best time in 1'42.710, and he will start tomorrow from pole position with Jorge Martin and Juanfran Guevara at his side. It was Bulega's first pole since Jerez last year. Fenati qualified on the second row with Albert Arenas and Niccolo Antonelli. Jules Danilo finished seventeenth.

But Nicolo Bulega had his time canceled for exceeding the track limits and Jorge Martin inherited pole position.
