Personalized major regulatory changes are to be noted this season for the Supersport 600 category in the French Superbike Championship. These changes aim to align the regulations with international standards and particularly the regulations established by the FIM, thus offering a more competitive and diversified field.

The Supersport 600 category will be split into two groups: the Supersport category, unchanged from the 2023 season, and the New Generation category, which will welcome the most recent motorcycles, including manufacturers such as Ducati, Triumph, Suzuki, MV Agusta ( subject to approval by the importer).

This development aims to align the French Championship with the regulations of the World Championship or even with the regulations of neighboring national championships. Ultimately, there will be two separate classifications and two French champions: one for the Supersport category and one for the New Generation category.

A Wild Card reserved for drivers in the Supersport category

The Wild Card offered by the French Motorcycling Federation and Yamaha and the GMT94 is renewed and reserved exclusively for the Supersport category, offering a unique opportunity for emerging riders to prove themselves at the highest level of national competition.

These changes are part of a broader vision aimed at strengthening the position of the French Superbike Championship in the field of reference event cycles. The 2024 season promises to be an exciting one, full of exciting challenges and fierce competition.

Sébastien Poirier, President of the FFM : “ The French Motorcycling Federation is fully committed to supporting our French riders. Our collaboration with the GMT94 team and Yamaha aims to highlight our French Championship as well as the performances of the drivers who take part in it. We are particularly proud that a French driver, Valentin Debise, who benefited from a wildcard with the GMT94, is now an integral part of the World Championship.."

Christophe Guyot, Team Manager GMT94 : " The Wild Card project, orchestrated by the GMT94 in collaboration with the FFM and Yamaha within the FSBK, injects palpable dynamism and strong competitiveness into the French Championship, where every weekend the public witnesses beautiful passes of arms in Supersport 600. Records were broken on all French circuits, suggesting that in the years to come, many drivers from the FSBK will evolve at the international level to defend the French colors at the highest level. Since the beginning, the FFM and Yamaha have given us constant support, in particular by rewarding the leader of the championship so that he can benefit from a first complete experience and in the best conditions in the Supersport 600 World Championship. We are proud and honored to be a gateway into this championship for young talents.«
