Motorcycle days suspended at the Albi Circuit at the start of 2020

“Dear motorcycle community, dear riders, dear fans, it is with frustration and sadness that we announce to you that the motorcycle cannot be accepted this year on our circuit. Indeed, for approval reasons, the Albi Circuit will not be able to host the French Superbike Championship, nor a motorcycle riding day in 2020.”

The French Motorcycling Federation has demanded a major modification of the current route. This request involves an enlargement of the loophole between turns 1 and 2.
This work requires the erasure of part of the current track and the creation of a new route inside over a length of approximately 400 meters. This work is extremely heavy and the Circuit d'Albi could not financially assume such a project.
It is therefore with the support of Albi Town Hall that this project was to see the light of day this winter. The budget for the work was voted on by the municipal council and the traditional process of calling for public tenders was launched. This market was, however, declared unsuccessful, the various parties involved unfortunately being unable to reach a financial agreement.
Other solutions were considered but given the time taken to carry out this work, no viable solution could be found for the year 2020.
The Albi Circuit has been a major player in motorcycling for thirty years, note that only one final of the French Superbike Championship in 2014 has been able to take place until now. Motorcycling at the Albi Circuit is also an economy in its own right involving the motorcycle club of course but also local riders, driving schools, trackday organizers and dealers.
It is with great disappointment that we must take note of this situation. The Albi Circuit will be exclusively 4 wheels this year but the French Motorcycling Federation, at the origin of this constraint, has committed to ensuring that the FSBK final can once again take place at the Albi Circuit as soon as the work will be completed.
In agreement with Albi Town Hall, it is agreed that all administrative and financial procedures be carried out this year so that a new call for tenders can be successful before the end of the season. Thus, the work can be carried out before the end of 2020. In this configuration, the Albi Circuit will once again be able to host all motorcycle activities and competitions from 2021.
Thank you all for your understanding, thank you to the community for their support.
