Xavier Simeon will exceptionally be at the start of the first round of the French FSBK Superbike Championship at Le Mans with a Yamaha R1.

The first round of the French Superbike FSBK Championship season will include an exceptional wild card. After a year 2018 spent in MotoGP with Reale Avintia Ducati, Xavier Simeon will participate in the Le Mans round on April 6 and 7 aboard a Yamaha R1 entered by the Dunlop test team, thus preparing for its next entry in the 24 Heures Moto.

The former European Superstock 600 and FIM Superstock 1000 Cup champion will be able to prepare for the 24 Heures Moto, the FIM EWC event in which he will participate with Yamaha Viltais Pierret Experiences. Simeon, who will team up with Florian Alt et Florian Marino for the last World Endurance events, will also contribute to the development of the new Dunlop specifications with this wild card at Le Mans. The Anglo-Japanese company wanted the 29-year-old Belgian to take part in the FSBK at Le Mans, carrying out a comparative tire test with a Yamaha R1. Besides Simeon, Julien DaCosta is this year among the drivers who will compete in some races at national and international level under the banner of the Dunlop Test Team.

Remember that this season, Xavier Simeon will become the protagonist of a double commitment. On the one hand, the FIM EWC with Yamaha Viltais, on the other hand the MotoE with Reale Avintia Esponsorama. At Le Mans, where he will play this wild card in FSBK, he has significant experience in the different categories in which he has participated over the years. In addition to racing as a reserve for Suzuki SERT at the 24 2008 Hours of Le Mans, Simeon scored a Moto2 World Championship podium (2013 season with the SAG team) at the Sarthe circuit, the first of his career in the World Championship. Last year, in MotoGP, he finished eighteenth with the Avintia team's Ducati Desmosedici GP16.
