Born on October 12, 1996 in Barcelona, Argentinian Gabriel Rodrigo is driving a Honda this year for the Kömmerling Gresini team. Endowed with a very generous style, which earned him three pole positions in the Czech Republic and Austria in 2017, then in Japan last year, “Gabi” also achieved the best laps in the race at Phillip Island in 2017 and at Misano in 2018.

Rodrigo begins his fifth season in Moto3 this year, finally leaving KTM for Honda. His best final result was seventh in the World Championship in 2018, and his best place was third in the race at Barcelona in 2018 (the only GP podium of his life).

During the Moto3 tests in Jerez in November, Rodrigo finished twelfth out of 29, 1.006 behind the leader. Jaume Masia, which wasn't bad for a first ride on a Honda. During the Qatar tests, he took off like a plane on the second day and set the third fastest time in the first session before falling and breaking his right collarbone.

A few hours of flight later, he found Doctor Mir, the king of the MotoGP scalpel in Barcelona. The operation was not complicated, but the time between the accident last Saturday and the first run next Thursday in Qatar was short.

“I feel less pain compared to previous collarbone surgeries, explained Rodrigo, and the doctor confirmed that the fracture was not that serious. The plate will therefore be more of a support than anything else. Of course, I'll never know how bad it is once I'm on my bike, but I'm definitely looking forward to it! »
