The MotoGP paddock can be considered as a kind of big family of around 3000 people who travel from Grand Prix to Grand Prix around the world.

Most of its members have been there for years, even decades, and Gary McLaren was fully part of it, after having been a data engineer at Suzuki MotoGP then having joined the IRTA in 2012 as right arm of Danny Aldrige, in charge of technical controls of Moto2 and Moto3.

Sadly, Gary McLaren lost his life last night in Thailand where he was spending a few days with his fiancée Jasmine, while trying to light a big fireworks display for the New Year celebrations.

The police and rescuers who arrived on the scene were unable to do anything to try to save the 51-year-old Briton, unanimously appreciated by the paddock, who was very seriously injured in the face.

All our thoughts are with his family and friends.
