Except for a crash in Argentina (hit by Aleix Espargaro, victim of a gearbox problem), Dovizioso has finished all Grands Prix among the top six. His second place in the inaugural GP in Qatar was the harbinger of his future triumphs in Italy and Catalonia.

Without getting angry, without making any noise, while all the cameras were focused on his teammate, the two-time millionaire Jorge Lorenzo, Dovi accumulated big points by finishing sixth in Texas, fifth in Jerez, fourth at Le Mans, then more recently fifth in Assen.

The addition is therefore now favorable to the citizen of Forlimpopoli, after Maverick Vinales shone brightly, before, like Icarus, beginning the fall which caused him to lose leadership of the World Championship.

Four points separate Dovizioso from Vinales, with Valentino Rossi lying in wait in third position, seven points behind his compatriot, and Marc Marquez ready to jump to eleven points. With Marquez having never been beaten at Sachsenring for seven years, the positions could tighten up at the front.

Dovizioso has been on the Sachsenring podium twice in MotoGP: in 2012, when he finished third on Yamaha Tech 3, behind Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo, and last year behind Marc Marquez and Cal Crutchlow.

According to Andrea Dovizioso, “ The Sachsenring is a track that has given us some problems in the past, but its surface has just been resurfaced and it will be new for everyone.

“As always, we will have to take into account the behavior of the tires, especially in this case given that no one has been able to test on the new track surface.

“It gives me great satisfaction to arrive in Germany as championship leader, but it will not change my way of racing because, even in the past, I never raced for every individual result, always with a eye on the championship.

“We will try to do a good job here in Germany to get the best possible result in Sunday's race. »
