For the general public, the resurfacing of the Sachsenring has gone completely unnoticed. For Michelin, certainly not, but nevertheless, the men from Clermont-Ferrand have not carried out any tests of the new coating.

Why?

Piero Taramasso, Two-Wheel Manager, Michelin Motorsport, explained it live on Eurosport: “we had asked several times to come here, at least to do a day of testing. But it was difficult because there are restrictions, especially in terms of noise volume. Here, we have very, very strict laws. The bikes would have had to be modified to lower the noise level, the mapping had to be changed, therefore removing a lot of power. So in the end, it would not have been a “clean” test and, as a result, we did not come. It is for this reason that we have brought 4 front tire specifications and 4 rear tire specifications here. So as not to be surprised by the level of adhesion of the new coating. »

Fortunately, everything went well overall for the Bibendum, Marc Márquez completing the 30 laps of the race in 40 minutes and 59 seconds compared to 41 minutes and a second in 2015 (wet track in 2016).
