At the end of the Italian Grand Prix, Maverick was 26 points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, 27 over Valentino Rossi and 37 over Marc Marquez. Three GPs later, he is only second, 5 points behind Marquez.

He came back for speedweek. com on his German Grand Prix, where he remained in tenth position for the first nine laps.

“With the tank full, I didn't have a good feeling, it was difficult to keep the speed going through the corners. From tenth to the last lap the bike worked well, I'm happy with that. We have to work harder during the practice sessions, to be stronger in the race. »

Vinales is currently second in the provisional World Championship rankings.

" I'm disappointed. I lost a lot of points in four races. In Assen I probably would have won under normal conditions. I started eleventh on the grid and made a mistake. It was a key moment of the World Championship, where I should have taken 11 or 13 points.

“In the first part of the season we showed that we were strong. In the second, we saw that we have a lot to learn. I'm learning. On the Sachsenring, I implemented what I learned at Assen, without taking too many risks. In the second half of the season I will try to give everything.

“Yamaha's plans need to change if we want to be as good as in the first race of the year. We need to find the bike as it was then. If we can do that, we will win races and the championship.

“Because we struggled, we adjusted the electronics and engine power during each race by reducing it. Now it looks like we need more power again.

“In some races we were completely confused, there are no common bases for electronics, we always changed them. I want Michelin to have the same tires for many races so we can work hard on the electronics.

“I need the same confidence in the electronics and tires that I had at the start of the season. »
