The air temperature was 16°, just like that of the track. It wasn't raining, but the asphalt was wet at the start of the session. The first drivers to set off did so in Dunlop rain. Bo Bendsneyder set the first reference time in 1'36.861, compared to the time of 1'26.688 which earned Aron Canet pole on Saturday.

Jorge Martin who fractured his right tibia and ankle will have surgery this Monday in Barcelona and he hopes to be back for the next Grand Prix in Brno on August 6. Danny Kent, replacing the injured Niccolo Antonelli, and Maria Herrera were penalized by a drop of 12 places on the grid for having driven three times on Friday at more than 110% of one of their best partials.

A few drivers were trying the slicks with 10 minutes to go. Raul Fernandez went 1'35.328, at 16 years old on his Mahindra. He replaced Albert Arenas at Aspar. Philipp Oettl moved into second place, 0.5 behind Fernandez, while the track still included many patches of humidity.

While Mahindra will leave the Grands Prix at the end of the season, there was talk of Niccolo Antonelli and Enea Bastianini next year at Leopard Racing, including Joan Mir will leave in Moto2 at Marc VDS Racing while Livio Loi would not be retained.

Raul Fernandez finished first in 1'34.409 ahead of Romano Fenati, Adam Norrodin, Bo Bendsneyder and Aron Canet.
