Participants in Q1 were Tito Rabat, Danilo Petrucci, Hector Barbera, Jack Miller, Scott Redding, Alex Rins, Johann Zarco, Pol Espargaro, Andrea Iannone, Loris Baz, Bradley Smith, Mika Kallio, Sam Lowes and Karel Abraham.
The track was wet and all the drivers started on wet tires. It continued to rain quite heavily. At the start of the session, Espargaro Pol completed the first fast lap in 1'30.361 on his KTM, ahead of Jack Miller et Andrea Iannone.
alex rins took first position in 1'30.283, then Loris Baz took over in 1'29.849. Danilo Petrucci took the lead in 1'28.878, ahead of Jack Miller et Pol Espargaro.

Andrea Iannone took command in 1'28.506. Petrucci regained the lead in 1'28.144, before Jack Miller did not beat him in 1'27.967. Petrucci passed in 1'27.688 while the rain increased.
Danilo Petrucci et Pol Espargaro qualified for Q2, while qualifying was over for the others, led by the third Jack Miller. Baz was fourth and zarco ninth.
