What seems certain at the end of the 2 days of testing which took place on the Red Bull Ring circuit is that Marc Márquez is by far the fastest on a timed lap of the Austrian track. His pole position and especially his new absolute circuit record bear witness to this.

However, Andrea Dovizioso showed a strange self-confidence regarding race pace during the press conference, and this 20-minute Warmup may provide some confirmation.

The sky is gray, with temperatures of barely 20° in the air and 22° on the ground.

Here are the references available before this 20-minute warm-up:

Philipp Ottl has just shown during the Moto2 warmup that the drying track of the Austrian layout was starting to prove faster with slicks than with rain tires.

The MotoGP riders have certainly observed this, but the tire choices nevertheless remain divided at the opening of the track.

Many drivers do a first reconnaissance lap on wet tires, before returning to their box to change to slicks.

Valentino Rossi sets the first benchmark (on slicks) in 1'31.812 after his first flying lap. On the next pass, the Yamaha rider registered 1'29.197 ahead Karel Abraham, Franco Morbidelli and Miguel Oliveira.

The waved flags then signal a return of rain, while Franco Morbidelli just achieved 1'28.803.

At this moment, around ten pilots (including Marc Marquez, Maverick Viñales, Alex Rins, Cal Crutchlow, Pol Espargaró) have not yet registered any times, since they returned to their box after a reconnaissance lap.

With only 10 minutes left, no more slicks are on the track and in a way a new session is beginning...

Obviously, no time is improved at the top of the table, a part which only reflects the stubbornness of the individuals concerned.

Under the rain, Marc Márquez turned out to be the fastest, in 1'33.038, ahead of Alex Rins.

The question that now arises is to know in what conditions the race will take place at 14 p.m.…
