The Marc VDS team attacks the summer break with a mixed final weekend. On the one hand, the team leaves with an excellent result from Joan Mir, on the other hand, Álex Márquez encountered difficulties.

The rookie Joan mir is gaining strength little by little and could prove dangerous during the second part of the season. Indeed, he has finished five times in the top 5 in nine races, and has two podiums, his worst result being an eleventh place (apart from a fall in Catalonia).

He once again showed his potential this weekend. After a fairly calm first day with nineteenth position in FP1 and eleventh in FP2, he progressed on Saturday by finishing fourth in FP3 and qualifying eighth.

In the race on Sunday, he got off to a very good start and immediately began to catch up with those in front. He managed to lead the race before finally finishing second, his best result in the category: “I’m super happy with this result. We are making significant progress and the results are showing. I pushed hard throughout the race, trying to put pressure on Brad Binder, but credit to him because he had a great race. I had good pace throughout the weekend and, although my qualifying wasn't the best, I knew I had the potential to fight for the podium. »

For its part, Alex Marquez had a mixed weekend. While he got off to a good start by finishing sixth in FP1 and second in FP2, he was the victim of a violent fall in FP3 which caused him severe pain and bruises. If he managed to surpass himself in qualifying to take seventh place, it was more complicated in the race.

Despite a good start which allowed him to remain fourth for part of the race, he quickly began to lose places. First seventh, he then found himself in a group of drivers and was overtaken a lot in the final laps before finally finishing thirteenth, his worst result of the season if we remove his fall at Jerez.

When he returned to the box, the Spanish driver was inevitably disappointed: “I suffered a lot from the first laps, especially on the rear tire. I'm not sure if something on the bike was wrong, so my goal was just to get everything under control and finish the race. I pushed as hard as I could, but I started to have even more difficulty from halfway through the race. It was a difficult weekend for us. I'm not too happy to end the first part of the season this way, but now we have the summer break to try to get back on the right foot. »
