German Grand Prix Sachsenring Moto3 Day 3: A great comeback, but not rewarded, for Darryn Binder

Last meeting before the summer break, the Sachsenring circuit hosted the German Grand Prix last weekend. 

Under bright sunshine, the CIP-Green Power team driver expected a very close fight on this demanding track. After missing entry into Q2 during the three free practice sessions, it was from the ninth row on the grid that Darryn binder rushed off.

The South African, who was already 16th on the first pass, gradually moved up the hierarchy until he was among the top ten, just over a second behind the leader. But after wearing his tires to the maximum at the start of the race, Darryn made a mistake and crashed shortly before the checkered flag.

The representative of the CIP-Green Power team is already focusing on the next meeting in Brno to try to get back on the podium.

Darryn Binder (Abandonment) : “This weekend was difficult. I didn't have a good feeling on the bike with the soft tire. I wasn't able to take a step forward like the others with a view to qualifying. I got off to a good start and was in the group fighting for victory. Fortunately, I avoided the worst in the first laps and was able to close the gap to the leading drivers. On the last lap, I passed two drivers who had just overtaken me. One of them started to turn, I had to squeeze on the inside and I lost the front. I hope I can take my revenge after the truce in Brno.”

Alain Bronec (Team Owner) : “Last weekend of racing before the break on a circuit which is not easy for us with climbs and rather complicated sectors. It's also a circuit that doesn't have a lot of heavy braking and Darryn wasn't able to express himself as he usually does. Starting from 25th place, he still managed to move up to ninth position. But by forcing a lot, he wore out his tires and made a mistake on the last lap. We were fighting for a place among the Top-12, it's a shame! ".
