The Suzuki rider continued his momentum this Saturday and had an excellent second day before missing the mark a little in qualifying.
Since the start of the weekend, Andrea Iannone achieves an almost faultless performance having finished in the first three in each session: first in FP1, third in FP2, first in FP3 and second in FP4. He even narrowly missed breaking the circuit record today.
Main opponent of the king of the circuit, Marc Márquez, everything suggested that he was going to take pole position, or at least finish on the front row. However, and against all expectations, he failed to confirm in qualifying and finished in eighth position, four tenths from pole.
Despite his domination, he keeps the same state of mind as yesterday and does not want to get carried away given his drop in speed in the second part of the last races: “I think that, from the start, our weekend has been positive. We have improved on the tires and the consistency, and that is the most important thing for us because yesterday we struggled on this point. I think we need to work a little more in this direction and we will test something tomorrow morning. In FP4 I rode well and had a good pace, but it is important to maintain our consistency throughout the race. The second part will be important. I expected better in qualifying but I have more difficulty when the temperatures are high. Tomorrow I will give the best of myself and try to stay ahead. »
