The Suzuki rider had a rather solid weekend and wanted to try to fight at the front again in the race, unfortunately it ended prematurely in a collision.

Alex Rins once again, worked a lot with his team and progressed throughout the weekend. After a first day just outside the top 10 with a twelfth place in FP1 and an eleventh place in FP2, he improved his results on Saturday. Indeed, thanks to his ninth position during FP3, he automatically qualified for Q2. He then finished sixth in FP4, which boded well for qualifying. These were a little worse than expected with the final eleventh place, but the Spanish driver was not more worried than that, knowing he was consistent and capable of getting back into the race.

Unfortunately, he was unable to make more than three turns due to a maneuver by Pol Espargaró which caused his fall. Obviously, Rins was very disappointed when he returned to the box: “I was on my line, and it was really weird because when I changed direction to go into turn three, I found Pol on the inside, on the limit. He hit Andrea [Iannone] before he fell and I fell with him because there was no space to avoid contact. I'm really sad because we worked hard all weekend and it's disappointing to end like this. »

However, he remains positive because he knows he has shown good things since the start of the season. Indeed, even if he totaled five falls, which is a lot, he also won two podiums and a top 5: “The season is going very well, despite the falls at the start of the year. We fought a lot with the leading group and that's good for me and the whole team. We can't wait to come back after the summer break. »
