END OF EUROPEAN SUMMER TOUR IN SPAIN FOR MICHELIN

Head to Spain and MotoLand Aragón for the MotoGP™ World Championship and the 14th round of the season, the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón, 11th and final race of the summer “European Tour”.

The Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón is the 3e and the four races held on the Iberian Peninsula – with Jerez, Barcelona and Valencia – but the great variety of Spanish regions makes it feel like you are racing in different countries. The Motorland Aragón circuit is located in the desert and very mineral scenery of the Teruel Province, near the town of Alcañiz, a region known for being very hot and very arid in summer. The 5,078 km long route is demanding on the tires, the range of MICHELIN Power Slicks was selected accordingly. The front tire is available in soft, medium and hard in a symmetrical version, while the rear, also in soft, medium and hard, has an asymmetrical design with a harder left side to respond to the high demands of 10 turns at left of this anti-clockwise circuit, three more than on the right.

It is a technical track with its long straight line of almost a kilometer and its varied turns ranging from fast curves to tight hairpins. A real challenge in good weather, even more difficult when temperatures are low in the morning. There is also still a risk of heavy rain and thunderstorms in this region. In this case, the MICHELIN Power Rain are available in soft and medium for the front and rear. The two rear versions are asymmetrical with a reinforced left side.

Michelin and the MotoGP riders will take to the track on Friday September 21 in the morning for the first of the day's two free practice sessions. Two more sessions will follow on Saturday before qualifying in the afternoon. The race, 23 laps long, is scheduled for Sunday September 23 at 14:00 p.m. local time.

Piero Taramasso – Michelin Motorsport Two-Wheel Manager:

“We experienced unstable weather in Aragón last year, which was also the case in these last races, so we are hoping for more favorable weather conditions this weekend. The track is very technical and last year, all six tires were used in the race, as was also the case at Misano recently. Michelin's desire is to provide tires for all drivers, teams and manufacturers and to offer them optimal performance in each race. This is something essential for us. Even within the framework of a single-brand series, we wanted to create a competitive environment and we believe we have succeeded. It is a real challenge for the drivers to make the best choice of tires, which leads to exciting and particularly competitive races. »
