The Honda Repsol rider made progress this weekend and almost returned to the front, which is reason to be optimistic before the overseas tour.

Dani Pedrosa is in full progress since the resumption of the season, as evidenced by his race results since Brno: after eighth place on the Czech track, he took seventh position in Austria before finishing sixth in Misano and progressing by another place in Aragon.

After difficult months, the Spanish driver seems to be getting back on track, and carried out good tests throughout the weekend. Despite a fairly distant FP1 with eighteenth position, he then finished seventh in FP2 and sixth in FP3. Automatically qualified for Q2, he finally finished eighth in FP4 before qualifying sixth, his best qualification since the Jerez Grand Prix.

Although Pedrosa had good pace throughout the weekend, he unfortunately made a poor tire choice in the race. Despite this, he put in a great performance finishing fifth, his best result this season which he also achieved at Le Mans and Barcelona: “Today I was able to be more competitive than in other races and I got closer to the leading group. Unfortunately, I think the key to the race was tire choice. It's a shame because my driving and my pace were good, but my grip on the track was not very high. In addition, the hard rear tire did not offer the same grip as during testing. Perhaps the software would have been better suited to today's track conditions. I lost tenths every lap and I couldn't catch up with the others. Without that, I could have fought for the podium or the victory. Step by step we are progressing a little. We will see if we can be fast in the next race. »
