After a very good start to the weekend, the LCR Honda rider unfortunately crashed heavily in FP2 and was declared unfit to ride by the Medical Center. He's going to have to have surgery.

Cal Crutchlow finished fifth in FP1 and FP2 and therefore concluded this first day in Australia at the forefront. Unfortunately, his Grand Prix will end there.

Victim of a heavy fall in the first corner during FP2, he remained lying on his side and seemed to be in pain. Evacuated on a stretcher and taken to the Mobile Clinic, the impression was confirmed: the Briton fractured both malleolus as well as the anterior part of the right tibia.

He is currently being airlifted to Melbourne Hospital for surgery. He will therefore not return to the track this weekend. More information very soon.
