The Honda Repsol rider had a similar start to the weekend as the other Grands Prix, although he was, generally speaking, back in the top 10.

Dani Pedrosa arrived in Austria after having had a good day of testing on Monday at the Brno circuit. Satisfied with the solutions found to his problems, he nevertheless waited to see how his machine would perform on the Red Bull Ring, and if the new rear tire would suit him.

Its results since yesterday tend to show that the improvements made are not completely working. Indeed, if the Spanish driver was not completely at the forefront in the dry, he was not at the bottom of the rankings either. Despite a good sixth place in FP1, he only finished ninth in FP4. On the other hand, he was far away during the sessions which took place in the rain, but that's only because he didn't ride much. His twenty-third and seventeenth places in FP2 and FP3 are therefore not significant.

Unfortunately, he was unable to be competitive on this track in qualifying, and finished ninth, almost nine tenths behind his teammate who took pole position. Starting from the third row is far from catastrophic, but will still complicate things if you hope to finish in front.

Pedrosa is therefore banking a lot on better weather and a good start: “After the rain yesterday and this morning, the track didn't have much grip, and I didn't have a good feeling with the rear. That was basically our problem today, and that's why our performance wasn't what we expected. I hope the track conditions will be better tomorrow. I also hope that I will be able to get a good start and be fast from the start. »
