The first salvo of this Austrian Grand Prix was fired by the Czech Kornfeil who thus won the first Moto3 free practice session on the Red Bull Ring. Behind, the protagonists in the championship also responded in a category where the two drivers fighting for the title are separated by only three points. This is the second time in a row that this has happened at this stage of the season since Marco Bezzecchi was three points ahead of Jorge Martin last year after Brno. 2018 and 2019 are the lowest margins after the first ten races of the season in the discipline since 2007 and the two-point margin between Gabor Talmacsi and Hector Faubel after the German Grand Prix.

in 1'37.035, Suzuki signs the first reference in front Arbolino, Antonelli, McPhee et Fernandez. While López exchanges pleasantries with Sasaki, Suzuki improves to 1'36.969. He is the only one at this stage of the session below the 1'37 mark.

Mid session! Nothing has changed since the start. Dallas Port is 20th and Canet 23rd. But in the combined times, they are sixth and ninth. The last quarter of an hour begins with Suzuki in 1'36.638. The performance of Cornfeel morning is cleared. This is the signal for an open hunt for the clock.

With Suzuki, Arbolino et Antonelli, three Hondas dominate, including two from the SIC58 team. The final minutes will take Drive in the lead in 1'36.585, ahead McPhee et Suzuki. Sasaki et Arbolino close the top 5. Dalla Porta is 13th but Canet and out of the top 14 qualifying for Q2 since only 28th…
