The Suzuki rider did not ride this morning, but made progress this afternoon during the last free practice session. Qualifying was, as is often the case, a little more complicated, but he got through it with the third row.

Andrea Iannone had a good first day yesterday, although he continued to encounter the same problems than during the last Grands Prix. This morning, rain arrived during FP3 and the Italian driver decided not to ride in order not to take any risks. It was impossible to improve his settings anyway and he felt that it was not worth going out given that the race is scheduled to be dry tomorrow.

In FP4, on the other hand, the track had time to dry as it did not rain again, and Iannone was able to progress compared to yesterday by taking the fourth fastest time in this last session. free trials.

However, his qualifying was relatively similar to those he achieved in previous Grands Prix. Starting off strong at the start of the session by displaying his name at the top of the ranking, he then slipped back gradually, not managing to improve his time as much as the others. The times being very tight, he finally qualified in eighth position, eight tenths from pole.

With a contradictory result and feeling, Iannone didn't know what to think about his return to the box, other than hoping for a good result in the race tomorrow: “My feeling on the bike was good, but I was not fast. I would have preferred to have a bad feeling but to be in front! We are struggling with acceleration and top speed. As we generally slide, it is difficult to control. This track is one of the ones where we have the most difficulty, but tomorrow I will do my best and I hope we finish in a good place. »
