The Ducati rider arrives at the seventh Grand Prix of the season on a positive note after his podium at Mugello which was welcome to put an end to the bad luck which had pursued him for two races. Two blank results and a podium later, the goal is obviously to win in order to catch up in the Championship.

His podium at Mugello allowed Andrea Dovizioso to come back well in the Championship after his two zeros at Jerez and Le Mans. Fourth, just one point behind third, Maverick Vinales, and six points behind second, Valentino Rossi, he could soon overtake his Yamaha teammates to establish himself on the second step of the standings. Even the gap with the leader, Marc Márquez, has narrowed, going down to twenty-nine points, just over a victory.

This perspective is something to rejoice the Italian who arrived motivated and confident in Barcelona. The first day went well, and should suggest good results this weekend. After finishing second in FP1, he placed fourth in FP2, three then five tenths behind first.

At the end of this first day, Andrea Dovizisio is satisfied and optimistic for Saturday: “The day was not very easy because, although the new asphalt makes the track much more fun, the grip is abnormal and we will have to work on this in order to be ready for the race. The behavior of the tires is quite strange and it's not easy to manage the bike, but we remain among the fastest and have good speed. All this combined makes me happy with the day. »
