This morning, Marc Márquez asserted his claims in front of Fabio Quartararo during FP1 which saw no less than 18 drivers finish in the same second. Will the Catalan champion end this first day of the Catalan Grand Prix on top?

This is the response that this 2nd 45-minute MotoGP session will provide, which will take place with conditions still favorable: 25° in the air and 34° on the ground, on a track that is undoubtedly smoother and faster than this morning, after a few drops of rain having deposited a sort of sand on the asphalt.

Here are the references available before this second MotoGP session of the day:

Again, this is Jorge Lorenzo the quickest to take advantage of a clear track when the red lights go out, followed by a determined convoy...

Unlike this morning, the choices are diverse when it comes to tires:

Unlike the Majorcan driver, some take their time and wait more than one lap before setting off, like Maverick Vinales, while Fabio Quartararo immediately goes for a spin in the grass in slow motion, without the slightest fall.

This is not the caseAlex Rins which goes to the ground without gravity at turn number 4 at the start of the session while Jack Miller establishes the first provisional reference in 1'42.115 ahead Valentino Rossi et Jorge Lorenzo.

On the next pass, the Australian driver is in 1'41.499 but it is then Marc Márquez which confirms its leadership in 1'41.229 whileAndrea Dovizioso takes Danilo Petrucci behind him, which also cleverly takes advantage Johann zarco, now equipped with a full carbon swingarm, which only concedes 2 tenths to the leader…

Jack Miller further improves his pace and, at the end of the first run, he leads a hierarchy made up ofAndrea Dovizioso, Cal Crutchlow, Danilo Petrucci, Johann Zarco, Marc Marquez, Fabio Quartararo, Takaaki Nakagami, Joan Mir, Franco Morbidelli, Valentino Rossi et Pol Espargaro.

Just behind, at 6/10 of a second, we find Jorge Lorenzo and Maverick Vinales.

The 2nd motorcycle Valentino Rossi is equipped with a longer exhaust.

A little after mid-session, Alex Rins restored the situation by achieving the 3rd fastest time while Johann zarco fall in the last turn.

At this moment, Marc Márquez, who is still the only one to be in Soft/Soft, only appears in 10th position: Will the Spanish champion try this bet during the race?

Alex Rins continues his effort and goes to the top of the ranking in 1'40.727.

The 2nd run ends with the following order: Alex Rins, 2/10 ahead Jack Miller, Andrea Dovizioso, Cal Crutchlow, Joan Mir, Danilo Petrucci, Morbidelli, Johann Zarco, Takaaki Nakagami et Marc Márquez. Next Fabio Quartararo, Pol Espargaro, Valentino Rossi, Maverick Vinales et Jorge Lorenzo.

fabio quartararo, always surprising, then placed himself 6/1000 behind the official from Borgo Panigale, ahead of Francis Bagnaia.

Takaaki Nakagami et Pol Espargaro then come between the 2 rookies but the young Frenchman has not said his last word and El Diablo seizes provisional pole position in 1'40.079 on the land of his first victory.
