The Suzuki driver announced at the start of the weekend that this Grand Prix would not be easy, and that he did not expect to be able to do wonders. Indeed, the race was complicated, but he was able to “save the furniture” despite everything.

Andrea Iannone knew that the temperatures should not be too high on Sunday if he wanted to hope to play in front. After a decent Warm Up where he took eighth place, he prepared for the race, but given the heat that was starting to set in, he did not expect a miracle.

As usual, he got off to a good start and was aggressive to stay in front. He held the pace for the first few laps, but once the heat started to affect the tires he struggled and lost places. He also had several heats and had to widen to then return to the track.

In the end, the Italian managed to secure tenth place and some important points for the Championship. He now occupies ninth place, tied on points with Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso.

He is the Suzuki rider who came out the best since his teammate Álex Rins encountered a technical problem which forced him to retire, while Sylvain Guintoli, invited for the Grand Prix, unfortunately crashed at the start of the race.

When he returned to the box, Andrea Iannone was still a little disappointed: “I'm not that happy because I really gave everything but I couldn't get the result I wanted. We have improved the bike in some areas, but we still have work to do in others, especially acceleration. Anyway, I'm happy with my performance because I did my best when the tires were good, and I was near the front of the race at the start so that's important. I hope we make progress in the next races. »
