The Pramac Racing driver ends the Barcelona weekend with another good result, even if it is below what he was aiming for.

Danilo Petrucci had a good Catalan Grand Prix, always placing in the top 10, except during his FP1. The Italian had strong free sessions before qualifying sixth. Satisfied with this result, he was confident about his chances of being able to fight for the top 5 in the race.

Despite a slightly poor start, he managed to stay in the leading group before overtaking Andrea Iannone on the third lap and taking sixth place. He then fought with Dani Pedrosa and managed to take fifth place, then fourth thanks to the fall of Andrea Dovizioso. Unfortunately, a lack of feeling with the front tire caused him to drop to eighth position. He tries to get back on Johann Zarco but does not succeed and has to be content with his place.

Even though he finished further back than expected, he took fifth place in the Championship thanks to this result and thus became the first Ducati rider in the general classification, ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo. This result allows him to be positive about his race: “I'm happy with what I did in the first laps. I rode with Pedrosa trying to manage the rear tire, but then I started to have a problem with the front tire and couldn't brake hard. I was convinced I could make a top 5, but I'm still happy because I'm fifth in the Championship. »
