Whether important or not, there was no shortage of news concerning Jorge Lorenzo for this first day of the Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona.

The Honda rider actually returned from Japan with an impressive tank cover in his suitcase which is reminiscent, but more pronounced, of the model that Ducati had concocted for him after several months.

With these increasingly prominent appendages, the Mallorcan champion can better grip his motorcycle with his thighs, even lean on them when braking, and thus feels more comfortable controlling its direction.

The fairing of its RC213V also has very rough returns with the same objective of being able to lean on them when braking, this time with the knees.

More anecdotally, “Por Fuera” temporarily transformed into “Bad Boy” through the decoration of his Shark RACE R PRO GP helmet… (See photos here)

17th at 0,929 seconds at the end of FP1, the one who “is not a super driver but a champion” improved his time by 8 tenths during the second session to conclude this one 13th at 0,737 seconds, ending this first day in 14th place on the combined timesheets.

Jorge Lorenzo : “Today was a good day. The parts that I implemented on the bike today are those that we worked on in Japan. I felt physically better on the bike. What is clear is that we sacrificed today's practice to be able to improve on one lap tomorrow. The track wasn't in the best conditions today and it was very slippery, the times weren't as fast as they could have been I think. I didn't use a new soft tire like many other drivers during FP2 because I think we can benefit more from it tomorrow. Hopefully this helps something. Compared to Mugello, today was a good day. I can be much more aggressive than ever with this bike and I was even closer to the front group.”
