The Petronas Yamaha SRT team rider will face the seventh round of the year with the aim of taking advantage of the pace of testing.
Fabio Quartararo is eager to ensure that the pace of testing translates into results at the seventh round of the MotoGP World Championship this weekend at the highly technical Barcelona – Catalunya circuit.
While the Frenchman can look back on a very positive season so far, he wants to finish higher in the race standings, after an Italian GP at Mugello failed to meet his high expectations.
Fabio Quartararo will face his first race since undergoing surgery last week to treat compartment syndrome in his right forearm. After several days of convalescence, El Diablo expects to be declared fit to compete in the Catalan GP, where he took his first Moto2 Grand Prix victory last season. This year's best rookie has a total of 31 points and ranks 12th overall.
fabio quartararo : “We come to this race after having an operation in Barcelona last week. Everything is good with the arm so far and I feel good. All I have to do now is take the medical exam at the circuit on Thursday and get back on my bike. Barcelona is one of my favorite tours. I can't wait to be there with a MotoGP. It's a long, fast track, and that's something I like. It brings back very good memories for me, because last season I won my first World Championship victory there. I can’t wait to get back out there and have a good race.”
So far, the Niçois has truly impressed the MotoGP paddock by achieving a pole position (Jerez), a 2nd row start (Mugello), 2 best race times (Losail and Le Mans) as well as a fantastic race at Jerez before being betrayed by its mechanics, all without experiencing the slightest fall.
