Second in the championship with 23 points behind Marc Márquez, Valentino Rossi owes this position above all to his excellent consistency. Enough to once again regret his exclusion from the race in Argentina…

Anyway, after a test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya three weeks ago, the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team returns to Catalonia for the seventh round of the MotoGP World Championship.

The Doctor has an impressive series of 7 victories in the premier category, in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2016, and was ranked 7th during the test of the new coating at the end of May.

He then declared: “yes, I think they did a good job because the asphalt is very good and very flat, and they took out a lot of bumps. The quality of the coating is also good because it has good grip, so you can go faster and have more fun. I also think that going back to the normal track for the last part is more suitable for MotoGP and that it is better for us. So I’m happy.”

After securing a second consecutive podium on the Mugello circuit, Valentino Rossi is determined to continue his momentum and will be able to count on a Catalan track generally favorable to Yamahas, as well as on the test previously carried out which gave him has already made it possible to define a base of settings, and therefore to be able to start the weekend in Barcelona without wasting time.

Let's have no doubt, Valentino Rossi will be there!

Valentino Rossi : “I hope to be stronger at the Catalan circuit, I think our potential is better there than at Mugello. During the test in Montmeló we found something. The new track surface is better for us, the new asphalt helps the Yamaha. We still suffered in some places, but we have to stay focused, not give up and try to win points.”

Massimo Meregalli : “After an important and useful test in Catalonia a few weeks ago, we now return to the Montmeló circuit for the 7th round. We have already been able to try the new asphalt, so we have a base in place for Friday. The team is eager to get started this weekend, as the track layout generally suits our bike and Valentino and Maverick have had their share of success there. Valentino has secured back-to-back podium finishes in the previous two rounds and is determined to continue his momentum. Maverick is also very motivated to achieve a good result at his home GP and is 100% committed to putting on a good show for the Catalan crowd, who always support us strongly.”
