From June 14 to 16, the MotoGP World Championship will take place in Montmeló, 20 km northeast of Barcelona. Marc Márquez arrives as leader of the championship ahead Dovizioso but the latest winner is a Petrucci who triumphed in Italy. However, over the last two years, it has been a Ducati official who has done the Mugello – Catalonia double…

It was in 1992 that a motorcycle Grand Prix was organized for the first time on the “Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya”. Since then, MotoGP aces have been racing year after year on the 4,6 km track which is located in Montmeló, about 20 km northeast of Barcelona. The circuit has six left and eight right turns and a straight line of 1 m.

We expect a new duel between the Honda official Marc Marquez and factory Ducatis. Certainly, but in what order? Danilo Petrucci won the Italian Grand Prix. His predecessor in the Ducati factory team, Jorge Lorenzo, took back-to-back victories at Mugello and Montmeló last year. In 2017, Dovizioso did the same. Can “Petrux” continue this Ducati series?

However, Valentino Rossi is the most successful driver of the “Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya”. The Yamaha official, who retired at Mugello, has already celebrated ten victories in Catalonia, including seven in the “queen category”. Lorenzo is in second place in this ranking – with six victories, five of which were in the highest class. Márquez finished second at the Barcelona Grand Prix three times in a row, with only one victory coming in 2014 in the premier class.

We must not forget a certain Fabio Quartararo who has very good memories of Barcelona from last year. And for good reason, he celebrated his first Moto2 Grand Prix victory there in 2018. However, just a few days ago, the Yamaha Petronas rider had surgery on his right arm because like so many riders, he was suffering from a compartment syndrome.

In the Moto2 World Championship, German-speaking fans will rejoice in the great return of Jonas Folger. The German jumps at the chance of a Petronas Sprinta Racing Kalex left orphaned by the injured man Mattia Pasini who himself replaced Pawi At the infirmary. In this category, the championship is open: Lorenzo Baldassarri (Kalex) is only two points ahead of Alex Marquez, Tom Luthi follows at four points. His colleague IntactGP, Marcel Schrötter, occupies fifth place with 24 points behind.

The same goes for the Grand Prix entry category of Moto3. Aron Canet (KTM) leads by three points in front Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Sling). Niccolo Antonelli (Honda) is third at 13 points after six Grand Prix.
