Long present in the intermediate Grand Prix category, the AGR team experienced its prosperous period in 2014 and 2015 with Jonas Folger's 2 victories and 6 podiums.

The team was then financially supported by Karlos Arguiñano Urkiola, born September 6, 1948 in Beasain (Spanish Basque Country), cook, gastronomy teacher, writer, television presenter, actor and Spanish Basque entrepreneur.

The latter appeared in motorcycle competition helping the official Derbi team in 125 cc with Pol Espargaró, Joan Olivé and Efrén Vázquez as riders in 3.

But since then, the Spanish team has experienced a slow regression with Yonny Hernandez, then Joe Roberts in Moto2, and Maria Herrera in Moto3. The famous chef therefore packed up and, last September, the Iberian team had to do the same and leave the world championship to concentrate solely on the FIM CEV championship.

But good news for their fans, they will be back in the Moto2 World Championship this weekend at their home circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya, thanks to a Wild Card granted to Edgar Pons, currently 3rd in the FIM CEV championship and who, having already participated in 41 Grands Prix, is far from being unknown in the World Cup.

Failing to take back “his” place with his father, currently assigned to Augusto Fernandez after the eviction ofHector Barbera at his father's house , Sito's son is therefore offered a chance to compete again with the best drivers on the planet.

Kepa Burutxaga (Team Manager): “Although we didn't get off to a good start at Estoril, Edgar's performance in the championship was good. Therefore, we believe that we will be able to emerge stronger from the Wild Card. Especially so that Pons can gain confidence and see his level compared to the riders in the World Championship. Our goal is to play a good role and, why not, get into the points.”
