Jack Miller set the mood during the first six laps of the Grand Prix of France. With his Ducati Pramac, he went to look for Marc Márquez who was starting to run away, until he took control of the race for a few moments. An offensive which cost him in tire capital and which allowed Dovizioso to get back on track. A great team effort that he would have liked to see better rewarded...

Jack Miller did the job in Sarthe but leaves the Bugatti track being the first to fail at the foot of the podium. An epilogue that his ranking as best independent driver does not really console, especially since he was beaten by the one he would like to dispossess of his red suit, Danilo Petrucci. That being said, in front of the Ducati staff, he still scored points.

« It was a good race, it was a lot of fun » Jack said. “ The bike performed very well. But after the start I was a little too euphoric, so I burned the side of the tires. I thought I could ride in front of Marc, because I felt I had the necessary speed ».

« But I didn't know if this pace could last 27 laps » adds the teammate of a bagnaia who was hooked for the count by Casa Particular in Viñales. " So I overtook Marc and tried to compromise the lap times. But after two rounds he caught me again. And then, bang, bang, bang, he gave me a tenth every lap. And then he was two seconds ahead. He drove very hard. It was always nice to overtake him. So I was able to demonstrate that we could fight ».

« I allowed Dovi to walk past me " added Miller. " Because I thought he had better rhythm. But honestly, his pace wasn't really remarkable. That's why Danilo managed to catch up with us. It was useful in a way, because then I understood what he had done differently from me, it was instructive. I missed the podium, that's negative, but I also have positive aspects. Overall it was a good day. We had two accidents this weekend during testing. Therefore, it made sense to avoid all mistakes during the race and bring the motorcycle home safely. It was important that I remained calm ».

Jack Miller is now sixth in the championship, fifteen points from its target: Danilo Petrucci.
