Since resuming after the summer break, Ducati has won both rounds of the world championship which took place in the Czech Republic and Austria.

The question is therefore whether, as the drivers cross the Channel for the third meeting of August, one of the official GP 18s will once again climb to the highest step of the podium, thus completing a victorious series on the fast and difficult Silverstone circuit. And if it will be that of Andrea Dovizioso, winner of the Czech Republic Grand Prix and last reigning winner of the British Grand Prix…

The man from Forlì has been on the Silverstone podium four times, including a spectacular victory last year as well as two second places in 2010 and 2011 and a third place in 2015. But his toughest opponent this weekend will perhaps be his own teammate, Jorge Lorenzo, whose scores on the British track are also impressive, the Spanish driver having taken three victories in 2010, 2012 and 2013, while he had to settle for 5th place, the last year.

Before leaving for Silverstone, the two Ducati team riders took part in a day of testing on Sunday August 19 at the Misano Adriatico circuit, where they mainly worked on preparing for the San Marino GP which will take place on September 9 . They achieved excellent results there, confirming that the Desmosedici GP18s are now in excellent shape.

As usual, Andrea Dovizioso, who has just been overtaken for 1 point by his teammate at the world championship, however remains calm and cautious...

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #04) – 4th (129 points): » I think we will also be very competitive at Silverstone. Last year we won because I was able to race with a great strategy, always being in the right position to try to win, even though we probably weren't the fastest on the track. The British circuit is difficult for many reasons: tire wear, the energy required, especially in the forearms, the ever-changing weather conditions, and therefore it is impossible to predict the result. In addition, you have to take into account the condition of the track and I hope that with the new surface they were able to eliminate the bumps from last year.”
