The Pramac Racing driver forgot his incident yesterday with Jorge Lorenzo to concentrate on the final free practice sessions and qualifying, and it paid off.
Danilo Petrucci got off to a slow start to his weekend in Great Britain, taking advantage of FP1 to test his tires, without really looking for a time. His fifteenth place was affected. On the other hand, he was constantly in the top 10 in FP2, but had to go off the line during his flying lap to avoid hitting Lorenzo who had slowed down. The Italian therefore finished twelfth, very annoyed with the official driver.
This morning, the irritation was forgotten, and “Petrux” achieved an excellent FP3, taking the second time. FP4, which was not very significant due to the heavy rain that fell, saw him finish fifteenth. In great shape for qualifying, he set very good times and was on the provisional front row in his last flying lap when he unfortunately made a small mistake which ultimately caused him to finish sixth.
Petrucci is however satisfied with his result and knows that everything will be decided tomorrow, in a race which promises to be unpredictable. He also had a thought for the unfortunate Tito Rabat who was seriously injured in FP4: “It was a really difficult day. During FP4 we had a big scare because the track was wet at the end of the second straight. I have a thought for Tito. I saw his accident and it was really shocking. We start from the second row, it's still a good result. »
