Franco Morbidelli, the “other” member of the Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team, is preparing to compete in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend in search of a good performance on a circuit he loves and which he believes is a perfect fit for the Yamaha YZR-M1.

Currently 12th in the championship with 52 points, the Italian driver is looking forward to a solid weekend on the English circuit, as he hopes to increase his pace for the second half of the season.

A big fan of the Silverstone circuit and its fast and flowing characteristics, and having already been on the podium at the English track (in Moto2 in 2016 and 2017), Morbidelli is confident that this one will suit his bike and his riding style. smooth riding, as he will make his MotoGP racing debut there after last year's cancellation due to heavy rain.

As a reminder, he qualified 13th last year, on the Honda of the Marc VDS team, just before Johann Zarco obtained 3rd position on the grid riding the Yamaha of the Tech3 team.

Franco Morbidelli : “I was disappointed that last year's race was canceled because the track is great, with a bit of everything. It's a very long lap at Silverstone, full of beautiful corners and lots of history too. The first part of the turns allows for a very nice dance on the bike, it leaves you full of adrenaline at every turn! I think the Yamaha will perform very well at Silverstone because our bike adapts to flowing corners rather than slow corners where you have to accelerate hard on the exit.”
