The Tech 3 driver struggled this weekend and was hoping to learn a lot from racing in the wet conditions, but unfortunately he had to give it up, like the rest of the field.

Hafiz Syahrin has never ridden in the rain with a MotoGP, and the Silverstone race could be an opportunity to experience it in these conditions. Indeed, all the tests were carried out in the dry, apart from the end of FP4, then the qualifications took place in mixed conditions.

In the dry, the Malaysian driver had a little difficulty getting used to the circuit, relatively complicated for a rookie, but made a leap forward between FP1 and FP2, progressing by 2.155 seconds and thus moving from twenty -second to eighteenth position. After a twentieth place in FP3, he made good progress during FP4 and despite the arrival of rain at the end of the session to finish twelfth.

On the other hand, the qualifications were complicated. With the track being in mixed conditions, both wet and a little dry, Syahrin failed to show his potential and finished last. The race was going to be complicated, but he was motivated to get back on track and, above all, to learn how to ride his machine in the rain. It would indeed have been a great experience for him to ride the entire race in the rain.

He hoped until the end that the start would be given, in vain: “The safety commission decided to cancel the race because there was simply too much water on the track. I can't say anything more. We wanted to ride, but it was impossible. It's a shame that this is happening with the new asphalt, I hope they will solve this problem. I really wanted to go there and learn on my MotoGP in these conditions, but this is what has been decided and we have to accept it. See you next year at Silverstone! Now we're just looking forward to the next Grand Prix to try to progress and learn. »
