The Ducati team manager spoke about GP One regarding the mix-up that occurred during the drivers' meeting with the Race Direction.

The decision to cancel the race was officially taken by mutual agreement between the Race Direction and all the drivers. Only, some of them, like Andrea Dovizioso, complained of not having been notified of the meeting.

Davide Tardozzi, the Ducati team manager, explained how things went: “On Sunday afternoon, no official information reached me regarding the meeting between the drivers and the Race Direction in order to be able to make a decision on the possible cancellation of the Grand Prix. The initiative for the meeting with Race Direction arose spontaneously among certain drivers who began to warn others to report to the IRTA. For example, Jorge Lorenzo was warned by his manager Albert Valera, who had found out about it from Aleix Espargaró. Not all the pilots were present because some had not been informed, and the others showed up only after seeing the images on television, without anyone having officially summoned them. That's exactly what I did. After seeing the images I went to find out for myself what was happening. As always, no team manager took part in the meeting, just as we are not present at the Safety Commissions officially organized on Fridays on the circuits. »

Regarding the possibility of moving the races to Monday, he acknowledged that Ducati would have liked to do so, but that the team agreed with the general decision: “The possibility of racing on Monday was ruled out after a vote by the teams, but we voted for it because we were available on Monday. Ducati totally agreed with the decision taken because it was the safest thing for everyone, but I still think that a decision of this importance should be taken by all the riders present on the grid through an official summons. »
