It was an option considered for a moment and all the more so since this famous Monday following this present Sunday is a public holiday in England... Where we celebrate summer, a sacred celebration in view of the harsh weather which condemns Silverstone not to give the representation of British Grand Prix. But the idea was quickly discarded. Here's why…

Doing the Grand Prix the Monday following this Sunday mobilized the bosses who called their respective headquarters from Italy to Japan via Austria. Factory teams from Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Aprilia, LCR and Marc VDS argued against a Monday change. KTM team manager, Mike leitner, was neutral. “ We join the majority."

The Ducati Factory team calculated its chances of victory at Silverstone and therefore wanted to go there on Monday. Also, Avintia-Ducati, Angel-Nieto-Ducati and Tech3-Yamaha were for it. But Pramac-Ducati was opposed to changing the Grand Prix to Monday because flights, hotels and rental cars would have had to be re-booked, which would have led to additional costs.

The majority therefore decided against a Grand Prix on Monday. Which will be cloudy and partly sunny with a maximum of 19 degrees. Honda is taking advantage of this situation since its driver Marc Marquez remains 59 points ahead in the championship with one round less to go. But Repsol Honda team principal Alberto Puig gave another reason for speedweek for which the HRC had opposed a race on Monday. “ We need to move towards the Aragón test as quickly as possible and in view of these tests we cannot disrupt our plans."
