Le sinking of Silverstone is a precedent that MotoGP will have to look into to learn lessons and determine corrective actions. Officials Mike Webb, Loris Capirossi and Franco Uncini are aware of this and, in front of the press, assured that they would not stand idly by in the face of the British disaster.

And that’s the least we expect of them! Mike Webb commented : "  we changed the schedules anticipating the MotoGP race as much as possible, then we tried to postpone the start, in agreement with the teams, as long as possible to see if the track conditions improved, in order to be able to compete in the Grand Prix ».

Then the rest becomes less diplomatic, suggesting heated debates… “ the cancellation is a consequence of the situation created with the new asphalt. The decision was taken by the Safety Commission after listening to the opinions of drivers and team bosses, who considered the asphalt dangerous, in particular because the water did not drain. This is an unprecedented situation for us. We want to continue with Silverstone, but it is absolutely necessary to find a solution to this problem ».

Franco Uncini plussilk: “There will be further assessments to be made in the future. I carried out an inspection at the end of February and the asphalt met the required characteristics, although it was not possible to test it in the wet. Crutchlow, after completing a test session, said the surface was good and the hole problem had improved. However, the situation seems to have deteriorated over the months. We don't know what happened, we need to understand why the situation has changed dramatically. What we are asking for is a circuit in optimal conditions, because it is the first time that such a situation has occurred. It would be desirable to ask for explanations also from those who did the work. ".

« We also spoke with drivers and representatives of all categories ", added Loris Capirossi . “We met this morning to discuss the condition of the track, then we did a lot of laps with the safety car to better understand the situation and we found that the surface was very risky. The drivers gave us their feedback and we evaluated and decided accordingly. There was really too much water on the track, the circuit was considered dangerous and we canceled the race. ".
