Team rider Ángel Nieto had another excellent weekend and continues to try to prove with his results that he deserves his place in MotoGP.

Alvaro Bautista resumed the season with the same momentum as he finished it before the summer break and was at the forefront throughout the weekend. We saw him fourth in FP1, third in FP2 and fifth in FP4. Despite this, he did not manage to automatically qualify for Q2 because the times improved over the sessions, his fourteenth place in FP3 penalized him.

He then qualified fourteenth, and hoped to regain places in the race by showing up at the front as he had done during previous Grands Prix, notably at the Sachsenring where he finished fifth.

Unfortunately, this time the Spanish driver encountered major difficulties at the start of the race and had to wait a while before being able to set his pace and catch up with his competitors. Despite this, he managed to take a ninth place which ended his 150th Grand Prix in style: “The race took place in two parts. During the first I had the worst sensations of the last races with the bike, but during the second there was a radical change and I achieved the best fast lap in the race before the three riders on the podium take it back in the last lap. The beginning was really weird. I got off to a good start but I was unable to stop the bike, I almost fell three or four times, I wasn't comfortable... I thought the race was lost because it was impossible to drive like that. However, in the second part of the race I managed to be fast and was able to fight for the top 8, but I was only able to overtake two of the three drivers in my group. I missed a lap to overtake Pedrosa. I'm happy with the second part, but we have to analyze the first, because we could have been as good as in Germany and fought for the top 5."
