Alex Espargaro had started his summer vacation on a hospital bed after being thrown off his Aprilia during warm-up for the German Grand Prix. A chest trauma which required him to undergo a period of observation and convalescence before returning to his motorbike in Brno. But the recovery did not bring anything good and the pilot even began to question his employer's policy...
It's a completely different start to the school year that one was hoping for. Alex Espargaro during this tenth meeting of the season. His RS-GP betrayed him again at a crucial moment, and this time it was during qualifying, with an electrical problem. Then there was a race, made on the basis of a strategy that the driver does not endorse when taking stock. Meanwhile, his teammate Scott Redding finished his performance on the ground... There was little reason for satisfaction to be had at the time of the accounts, and it was not the modest point of fifteenth place acquired which brought balm to the heart.
« I don't know what's going on » blurted out the one who set off from the 24rd place. “ I don't understand why the bike is not working and why we have regressed compared to last year. I can't drive, it's impossible to be fast. This bothers me a lot. We can't turn. With the hard tire, we are in great difficulty ».
And yet it is this rubber that his team imposed on him… “ They told me it was a conservative choice, but I don't see the point in just finishing fifteenth. This is useless. We should have taken a risk like Bautista did with softer tires. I'm lost. I need to take stock of all this before the tests this Monday ».
He insists : " I don't know why we are worse than in 2017. The tires are different, especially at the front, we have to completely review the balance of the bike ". Nothing to reassure a Iannone who will go to Aprilia next year…
